If you’re looking for a moody, twilight-inspired wedding venue with deer grazing the grass and moss-covered trees just steps away from the coast and up the road from a temperate rainforest, look no further than Fern Acres in Forks, Washington. This wedding venue is not only my personal favorite (like, ever), but it has everything you could ever dream of for a romantic wedding on the border of America’s most diverse national park, Olympic National Park.

When Autumn and Christian reached out to me to photograph their elopement in Olympic National Park, I was ecstatic. They know they wanted to include their closest friends and family, but they also knew that they wanted to have a super intimate “just us” experience, which is why I convinced them that a 2-day elopement experience would be the way to go.

On day one, it was all about friends and family. Autumn and Christian booked out Fern Acres for the day, splurging on the decor and even hiring a mobile bar so their friends and family could party with them all night long. When we arrived, the weather was sunny and warm. The venue was beautifully decorated with a white floral arch, a large tent with crystal chandeliers and a dance floor (perfect for rainy days), and of course, lots of twinkling lights to set the mood.

The ceremony itself was accompanied by lots of laughs, tears, and smiles from loved ones. After the couple said “I do,” it was time to party. Autumn and Christian cut the cake, had a deliciously catered dinner, and danced until the sun went down, espresso martinis in hand of course. They ended the night with a first dance as the sun began to set.

Once we all got a good nights rest, it was time for day two to begin.

This day was all about exploring the couple. They had never been to Olympic National Park and wanted to see as much as possible, and we definitely made that happen. We first met up at Ruby Beach where we got to witness the coolest light rays streaming through the trees and a helicopter who swooped down to say congratulations. We then made our way to the Hoh Rainforest where we saw more deer and some fall colors within the grove. After this, we drove around the entire peninsula, stopping at Olympic’s most iconic sites like Madison Falls and Lake Cushman for a ton of pictures.

By the end of the day, we were wishing it had just begun.

There’s nothing more incredible than exploring a new place with the one you love, and on your wedding day, you deserve to linger in that magic. So what do you say… are you ready for a 2-day elopement experience at Fern Acres and Olympic like Autumn and Christian were?

You? You’re the kind of person that gets a lil’ teary eyed looking at an epic view…

That moment when you turn to the person youโ€™re with and ask, โ€œAre you seeing this?โ€ I live for it. Places with trees and mountains and soft breezes that make you say, โ€œI canโ€™t believe this place exists,โ€ I spend pretty much all of my free time searching for and exploring them.

These places have always felt like home to me. And if youโ€™re the kind of person who also feels more at home surrounded by trees than by people? Then weโ€™ll get along really well. The Pacific Northwest is full of secret spots that are too special to share with just anyone. But it would make me happy to share them with you on your wedding day.

If the mountains/beaches/redwood forests are calling your name, go aheadโ€ฆ

(I promise you wonโ€™t regret it.)
