Stunning Avenue of the Giants Wedding

There are a lot of underrated places out there to get married, but Iโ€™m confident in saying that the Avenue of the Giants area is in the top three. Honestly, the entire Humboldt Redwoods State Park makes the list. I even have a full in-depth guide on how to elope in Humboldt Redwoods State Park if you want more details about planning a wedding there.

So yes, itโ€™s safe to say I love this area. When Lisa and Dean reached out about wanting to elope along the Avenue of the Giants, I was all in.

After putting together a location list for them, they chose the Big Trees Day Use Area for their ceremony. It ended up being the perfect fit. After their vows, we took portraits along the actual Avenue of the Giants road, which is always such a treat.

One thing to know about this area is that many of the trails and pull-offs can only accommodate groups of 10 or fewer. Donโ€™t let that scare you off though. There is one incredible grove nearby that can accommodate up to 100 guests, which is rare for any redwoods location to be honest.

After they exchanged vows beneath the trees, we wandered along the trails and drove a bit further up the road before heading out to some of the most underrated, hidden-gem, breathtaking black sand beaches Iโ€™ve ever seen. And thatโ€™s coming from someone who has photographed elopements on Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland. Not surprisingly, we had the entire place to ourselves. The same was true for their ceremony.

Moral of the story? Plan an Avenue of the Giants wedding. Itโ€™s one of those places where youโ€™re almost guaranteed privacy, you get to get photos on one of the coolest roads in America, and the nearby beaches are the cherry on top.

You? You’re the kind of person that gets a lil’ teary eyed looking at an epic view…

That moment when you turn to the person youโ€™re with and ask, โ€œAre you seeing this?โ€ I live for it. Places with trees and mountains and soft breezes that make you say, โ€œI canโ€™t believe this place exists,โ€ I spend pretty much all of my free time searching for and exploring them.

These places have always felt like home to me. And if youโ€™re the kind of person who also feels more at home surrounded by trees than by people? Then weโ€™ll get along really well. The Pacific Northwest is full of secret spots that are too special to share with just anyone. But it would make me happy to share them with you on your wedding day.

If the mountains/beaches/redwood forests are calling your name, go aheadโ€ฆ
